About Us:
APANO Action Fund, a 501(c)(4) non-profit organization, unites Asians and Pacific Islanders to build power, develop leaders, and advance equity through organizing, advocacy, community development, and cultural work.
APANO Communities United Fund (CUF), a 501(c)(3) tax exempt organization, invests in community organizing with Oregon’s Asian and Pacific Islander communities for social justice.
APANO CUF is affiliated with APANO AF, a 501(c)(4) tax exempt organization, to promote a broader range of work towards our goal of uniting Asian and Pacific Islanders to achieve social justice.
Description of Work:
We are looking for a graphic designer to collaborate and design digital collateral with a community-centered look and feel for promotion of our 2024 Legislative priorities and one-pager. This project runs between now and January 2024 with deliverable deadlines varying depending on the item. The vision is to have one cohesive design/element used for multiple formats.
Graphic Design themes:
Community Empowerment, Our Voices Matter, Changemaking, Bold, use APANO AF colors and branding
Deliverables include:
- Illustration/Design for Legislative Priorities One-pager that can be used in multiple social media templates as needed
- Templates for social media (Facebook, X, Instagram)
- Legislative Priorities One-Pager PDF
- All vector and RAW files
Participating artists will:
- Be paid $1000 for the commissioned work
- Co-own the artwork with APANO CUF and APANO AF and receive recognition where applicable in instances of the artwork
- Priority consideration to be commissioned to design our Get Out the Vote materials for the 2024 election
APANO AF will:
- Use the artwork in printed and digital communications, publications, and promotion during the 2024 legislative session and beyond
- Provide consultation and feedback throughout the creation process
Timeline (some flexibility may be needed in deadlines once the designer is chosen)
- Proposals Due Dec 8, 2023 (Applications will closer earlier if we receive 10 proposals so please apply as soon as possible)
- Applicants Notified Dec 9, 2023
- Be available for virtual meeting for Concept Discussion sometime between Dec 9-12
- Concept draft January 10, 2024
- Receive feedback and make edits January 12, 2024
- Final project complete January 20, 2024
Estimated project time: 20 hours total
Who should apply?
We are closing applications after 10 artists have submitted RFPs, so please submit sooner in order to be considered. We welcome submissions from new artists, as well as those with more experience. Please email jeanette@apano.org with questions.

- Acknowledgment of ability to adhere to the project timeline listed above,
- 3-6 pieces of your work (or link to a portfolio) that you feel best represents your ability to: 1) visualize our project; 2) demonstrate your understanding of design work for nonprofit organizations.
